It is located inside a mobile home park and honestly, quite small. It must be the time of the year since the visit was far from expectation. Since it is a non-monitored park, your visit is based on honesty. It asks for $5 per person at the entrance. The visit is unmanned. So, we deposited $10 for two. We do not know the size of the park thinking it will be a while. Lo and behold, it is so small that we can see the exit as we get 10 feet into the park. In addition, since this is unmanned and poor maintenance, there is no pest control to include mosquito spraying. We were swamped immediately by mosquitoes and horse flies. I could not even stopped for 5 seconds to take pictures with few blossoming trees/plants in the park! We were bitten viciously and had no choice but to leave the park in less than 5 minutes visit. The whole time, not one butterfly, rather swamps of mosquitoes and horse flies!! If you plan on visiting, try your luck. You may or may not see butterfly. But, you are guaranteed to see and feel mosquitoes and horse flies. Bring repellant for your bodies, top to bottom. Not an inch untouched with repellant or face the consequences. My favorite butterfly garden. Although small, it has a great variety of plants that attract South Texas butterflies. The selection of plants is thoughtfully chosen and beautifully planted. They have all the major local butterflies and many seasonal rarities as well.

The measure of a butterfly garden can be made by counting the caterpillars. Nowhere in the Rio Grande Valley did I see more caterpillars than at The Butterfly Garden At Oleander Acres in Mission Texas.

What a magnificent butterfly garden! So many different types of plants that host bees, moths, and pollinators, in general. A special treat are numerous, unique host plants and trees that I have never seen before! Rare beauties! What an educational experience that the entire family can enjoy! I will most definitely want to go back and visit again! I highly recommend this wonderful place to observe both native flora and fauna. 🌻🐝🦋🐌🐞🐛
